The terminal app can be found in Finder > Applications > Utilities > Terminal.
Open up the Terminal app, this is the app you will be using to create your SSH key. We will describe in detail how to do this below. You create SSH keys in Mac OS X using the ssh-keygen command in Terminal. SSH keys are also more secure than passwords, because the private key used to secure the connection is never shared. SSH key authentication provides the convenience of accessing your website files via SFTP without entering your passwords. All user authentication, and file transfers are encrypted to provide the highest possibly security.Ī private key (stored safely on your computer, never give out your private key).
